Everyone loves a few off the wall questions, so here are a some for Linda:
What's your favorite disney movie?
"Alladin" - because watching it later in life she realized how many adult innuendos are throughout the film. "The Brave Little Toaster" was a also a childhood favorite.
What celebrity, dead or alive, would you want to spend the day with and why?
"I'm going to bend the rules and say Lady Gaga. As far as I'm concerned, her whole life is an act. I think her performances are really out of this world and I love that she continually tries to shock her audience. The way she does it with a straight face is one of the first things I would ask her! I died laughing at her facial expressions in the music video for her new song Applause."
What did you eat for dinner last night?
Pork chops, green bean casserole, pasta salad, and a liter of gatorade to wash it all down!
Now that we got the important questions out of the way we can really get to know Linda. She came to us interested in helping create unique, handmade visuals for both of our stores and we quickly learned that Linda is the perfect fit for the job. She graduated with a BA in Visual Art Studio from UC San Diego and worked at Anthropologie helping create the visual art displays. However, not only is Linda extremely creative she is also gifted on the track field as well! Hopefully we will be seeing Linda at the 2020 Olympic games! That's right Linda is training for the Olympics!
A skilled athlete and a talented artist seem like polar opposites, but Linda says that both take hard work and discipline. Coming from a creative family definitely is where Linda's artistic ability stems from. As a child Linda's mom would have the house stocked with all kinds of art supplies to encourage her and her siblings artistic side. Her mom is a painter who specializes in pointillism - talk about patience! Linda's dad is a musician who can play an array of instruments - from a drum machine to a banjo. Naturally, both of Linda's siblings are creative as well. Her brother is a filmmaker who is in the process of working on a documentary called "Disgraceland" and her sister is into fashion formerly modeling for Champagne Trott and Ford LA. Talk about a lot of creativity packed into one family!
Linda's first installation - the dream catchers - are not only visually beautiful they also have a beautiful meaning. Linda informed us that traditionally dream catchers are meant to catch all dreams, both good and bad, during the night. in the morning light the bad dreams are burned off and and the good dreams fall down from the web to the feathers and then onto the dreamer. In our case all good things will fall onto our stores and hopefully all those pesky thieves will steer clear! The inspiration behind the installation was the beautiful patterns and detailed textures in the clothing in the shop. We are so thrilled that our pieces inspired such a creative and gorgeous art installation and couldn't be any happier with the results!
Look out for more amazing window installations this holiday season!
